Potential certificate students should carefully review the certificate admissions requirements before applying to AITU. Certificate programs are designed for learners who want focused, career-oriented training without committing to a full degree program right away.
Certificate Admissions Requirements
Applicants interested in graduate admission to AITU should review the following requirements before applying.
- Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
- A high school diploma or recognized equivalent is only required if the certificate course is at the:
- Undergraduate level, such as 200-level or 300-level courses
- Graduate level, such as 400-level or 500-level courses
- Select which school within AITU you will be studying:
- School of Technology
- School of Nursing
- School of Technology
- Applicants must choose a certificate program or course of interest.
- Applicants must complete the Apply Online form and provide the requested personal, academic, and program information.

Need Help Meeting the Education Requirement?
Applicants who do not currently have a high school diploma or recognized equivalent may still begin the admissions process. AITU can connect applicants with an advisor to discuss diploma/GED assistance options and possible next steps.
How to Apply
The certificate application process begins with the Apply Online form. After submitting the form, applicants will receive guidance on the next steps in the certificate admissions process.

Step 1
Review the Admissions Requirements
Before applying, review the certificate admissions requirements to understand the age requirement, program selection process, and whether your selected certificate requires a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.
Step 2
Complete the Apply Online Form
Fill out the Apply Online form with your personal, academic, and program information. This form begins your certificate admissions process at AITU.


Step 3
Wait for Admissions Review
After submitting your application, AITU will review your information and determine your admissions status.
Step 4
Receive Your Admissions Decision
Accepted students will receive next steps for registration, advising, required new student coursework, and certificate pathway planning.

Next Steps for New Students
Once accepted to AITU, certificate students will complete several steps to prepare for enrollment and begin their certificate pathway.

Complete Registration and Career Assessment
After acceptance, students will complete the registration process and the required career assessment instrument, VA Wizard. This helps students better understand their interests and connect their goals to the right certificate pathway.
Take the Placement Test
Students will take the required placement test after acceptance. The placement test helps determine whether students may be able to skip certain courses in their certificate program.


Ask About Credit for Prior Experience
Students with previous work, training, military, or professional experience may ask an advisor about AITU’s credit for prior experience program.
Complete the Required Introductory Courses
All new students are required to complete the Workforce Readiness Course. This course helps students prepare for academic success and career planning.

Establish Your Academic Pathway
Certificate students will register for courses in their selected certificate pathway. The course level determines whether additional education requirements may apply.
